What you’ll learn

From cellulite and scars to facial rejuvenation

In this module, you will explore the use of ESWT in aesthetic medicine. ESWT for aesthetic indications uses low- to medium-energy focused or radial acoustic waves to stimulate collagen remodeling, angiogenesis, and connective tissue reorganization. These biological effects are applied to improve cellulite, scars, skin laxity, and stretch marks, as well as to address filler-related complications such as granulomas, nodules, and biofilms in an exploratory context.

You will examine the scope of aesthetic indications, compare ESWT to conventional cosmetic treatments, review current evidence and indication-specific clinical protocols, and analyze the unique challenges of managing cosmetic outcomes. The module also emphasizes patient communication, baseline documentation, and expectation management.

Taught at physician level — structured clinical evidence, treatment rationale and interactive case examples, not device marketing.

After this module you will be able to:

  • Identify suitable aesthetic conditions for ESWT, including cellulite, scars, facial rejuvenation, and filler-related complications
  • Explain the mechanisms of action, protocols, and biological effects of ESWT in cosmetic tissue remodeling
  • Justify the selection of ESWT over or alongside conventional aesthetic treatments
  • Discuss treatment goals, patient selection, and strategies for managing expectations and long-term outcomes

Up to 90%

Of women after puberty are affected by cellulite, driven by fibrous septae, impaired microcirculation and adipose protrusion. Randomized controlled trials, including the CelluShock study, documented significant reductions on the Cellulite Severity Scale after ESWT, with high patient satisfaction.

80%

Average patient-reported improvement in post-burn scarring after percutaneous collagen induction, with histological evidence of increased collagen and elastin deposition — a technique the module pairs with ESWT as a combination strategy for scar remodeling.
