From trigger points to the chronic low back

In this module, you will explore the application of Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) in the management of low back pain (LBP) and myofascial pain syndrome (MPS). Both conditions are highly prevalent sources of chronic musculoskeletal pain, often associated with myofascial trigger points, fascial restrictions, and altered neuromuscular function.

ESWT provides a non-invasive treatment option that targets these pathophysiological processes by modulating pain transmission, improving local microcirculation, reducing muscle tension, and promoting tissue regeneration. Focused and Radial Pressure Wave (RPW) modalities may both be utilized, depending on the treatment objective and tissue depth.

Throughout this module, you will review the mechanisms of action, clinical evidence, treatment protocols, and patient selection criteria relevant to the use of ESWT in chronic low back and myofascial pain.
