In this module, you will explore the use of ESWT in the treatment of chronic and acute wounds. ESWT for skin indications uses low-energy focused or broad focus acoustic waves to stimulate healing processes in chronic, non-healing wounds. These include diabetic foot ulcers, venous and arterial ulcers, pressure sores, and burns. Unlike high-energy bone-focused treatments, skin-directed ESWT aims to modulate inflammation, enhance neovascularization, and stimulate cellular activity to accelerate re-epithelialization and wound closure. The therapy is non-invasive, well tolerated, and can be administered in an outpatient setting.

You will examine wound classification systems, evidence-based clinical indications, contraindications, and treatment protocols for ESWT in skin applications. The module also includes case studies, literature highlights, and interactive tools to solidify your clinical understanding of how ESWT supports wound care outcomes.
